Aurangabad is a success story of MIDCs efforts towards a balanced industrialization of the State. A city with no industrial background is today a thriving hub of industrial activity. As part of its efforts, the MIDC developed the Waluj and Chikalthana Industrial Areas, which were soon snapped up. This success along with additional demand for quality infrastructure necessitated the development of a third industrial area in the city - Shendre Industrial Area.
Infrastructure
Water
The water is sourced from Jayakwadi Dam on Godavari river 23 Kms from Waluj Industrial area where water treatment plant is located. The treated water from the treatment plant is supplied through 900 mm dia. MS pipeline to Chikalthana Industrial area and from Chikalthana industrial area through 600 mm dia. RCC PSC pipeline to Shendra industrial area. The scheme is presently designed to supply 15 MLD of water. The present consumption is 1.00 MLD.
Roads
Roads within the area are of international standards with the main road being 66 metres wide and internal roads 30 and 25 metres wide. All roads have been provided with underground water distribution services. The roads are constructed with technique comprising of water bound macadam, dense bituminous macadam and premix seal surfacing to provide a smooth riding surface.
Connectivity
The department of telecommunications has setup a dedicated electronic telephone exchange with 300 lines. The telephone lines will be connected through the Chikalthana exchange, which has ISDN facility. This exchange is connected to the main exchange of Aurangabad which is in turn connected to Pune, with a Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) network.
Common Effluent Disposal Facility
A Common Effluent Disposal System is proposed to be constructed according to the need.
Electricity
MSEB has proposed to establish 33 KV Sub-Station in Shendra industrial area
Streetlights
Well designed street lights are provided on main as well as internal roads in the Industrial Area with HPSV (High Pressure Sodium Vapour) fittings which fully illuminate the area.
