The Dombivali industrial area was established by MIDC in 1964. This area comprises of revenue villages like Sagaon-Sonarpada, Asde-Golivali, Gajbandhan-Patharli, and Chole in Kalyan tahasil, Thane district. The area is located on the Kalyan-Shil and Kalyan-Dombivali roads. In this area, industrial plots and sheds, residential and commercial plots are well demarcated and have been developed as Phase-I and II and a residential zone.

The Corporation has made its own arrangements for supplying pure water to the industrial and residential units of the area. MIDC also supplies drinking water to the villages surrounding the area. The entire quantity of water is lifted from the Barvi dam through pipelines from the Badlapur, Ambernath and Dombivali industrial areas. MIDC has provided an underground effluent collection system to collect the treated effluent from industrial units of the area; the treated effluent is finally discharged into the Kalyan creek via a disposal line. The CETP is also operating in the Dombivali Industrial Area.
